Australia is the world’s largest island nation and is located to the south-east of the continent of Asia. It is also the world’s second most populous country with over 66 million inhabitants. The country is home to many unique and distinct habitats, including tropical rainforests, deserts, temperate forests and grasslands. Australia also boasts an abundance of natural wonders such as Uluru (also known as Ayers Rock), the largest monolith in the world, the famous Great Barrier Reef and the Outback.
The most popular destination in Australia is Kangaroo Island.
It is a state park located off the south-eastern coast of mainland Australia and is a haven for wildlife, including kangaroos, koalas and echidnas. It also has beautiful natural beaches, crystal clear water and a dense array of marine life. If you have time on your vacation, you can also take a cruise along the Murray River where you can spot indigenous animals such as wallabies and platypus. In addition to its animal inhabitants, Kangaroo Island also has many plant species such as the red gums and cabbage trees that produce edible fruit. This makes it one of the most colorful places in Australia.
Another famous spot in Australia is The Great Barrier Reef
One of the world’s largest coral ecosystems and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It spans over 2,000 miles along the eastern coast of Queensland and comprises over 3000 different types of corals, macro algae and other sea creatures. The underwater portion of the reef is home to thousands of aquatic species such as sharks, rays, whales, dolphins and hundreds of different types of stony corals. In addition to its natural beauty, the Great Barrier Reef also generates economic value through tourism; it is one of Australia’s primary sources of income.
Although not as well-known as Kangaroo Island or The Great Barrier Reef, the Outback is another must-see place in Australia. It is an area in Central or Southwestern Australia that covers about two-thirds of the total land area and borders on the Gulf of Carpentaria in Western Queensland. The Outback is a remote region with little vegetation due to its arid climate. However, this doesn’t make it any less beautiful; it makes it all the more spectacular! Some of the most notable features of the Outback include Uluru (also known as Ayers Rock), which is a large sandstone formation in this region; Quilpie Grasslands National Park, which has vast open plains; and Kingscrest Station, which preserves an historic Outback homestead complete with outbuildings and livestock.
